Wow, what a stout piece. I had found another diff skid plate that was about $50 cheaper but was not constructed near as good as this one. This thing is heavy, constructed of thick steel and has good welds. There are drain holes built in. I love it's construction though. The other one mounted near the pinion as well but did not have any bracing built into it and the rear mounts to the bottom row of the diff cover bolts. I believe a good hit on something solid would have bent it into the diff housing and could possibly stress or shear off the diff cover bolts it mounts to. This one on the other hand. Again, bracing that contours the diff housing front to back, just below the pinion along with the mounting bracket at the pinion that also uses the contours of the housing and at the rear just behind the diff cover. This thing is solid and should last the life of the truck. Mounting is pretty straight forward but, again this thing is heavy. I mounted it myself with the truck on the ground. I used my body to get the bolts started and a jack to hold it in place to snug them down. This is well worth the price in my opinion and I would definitely recommend it if your worried about damaging your diff at all. For what I intend on doing, I probably really don't need it but, I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Get one, you won't be disappointed.
